Driving Board performance and scrutiny – meeting cycles and focus
Boards have a large range of responsibilities and duties, and unlike the exec team these are usually dispensed within a small number of time-limited meetings each year and through restricted supporting work. High performing boards need to manage their annual cycle for maximum impact, ensure individual meetings focus on the right issues, and that individual conversations on each item add value to the organisation. Planning the year’s work should be a significance focus of the chair, working with the Board. However, under the pressure of immediate issues, and with the temptation to stick with longstanding approaches in an organisation, many organisations do not review and update how they drive performance and scrutiny, letting the agenda dictate to them rather than business need dictate the agenda. This interactive session will encourage those attending to discuss their own experiences of these issues and what works and does not work for them in their organisation’s current model. This will lead into discussion on best practice and alternatives.
There are two tickets types available when you register – one for attending the event in person, and one for those who intend to ‘dial in’ using our conference call option (details will be provided nearer the time of the event).
